Warranty repair service is a common request from our corporate fleet clients, as well individual owner/operators. At TrailerMD all repair procedures are received directly from the manufacturer and strictly followed based on their individual specifications.
While trailer repairs are being completed in the shop, our first-class customer service team maintains thorough communication with the manufacturer and the fleet maintenance department. This absolutely helps to keep all involved parties apprised on each step of the warranty work progress.
Recently, one specific warranty repair job ticket consisted of a 4-unit trailer operation, based locally in the Toronto area. This repair projected involved the replacement and reinforcement of the equalizer hangers.
The pictures below show the broken welds and the gaps found between the hangers and the main beams.
To ensure all issues are documented, TrailerMD starts a warranty repair ticket. This list will encompass all repairs to be performed. Our concern is not only to fix the damage but also to reinforce the unit in order to avoid future issues.
In order to get to the damaged equalizer hangers – the first step was to remove the tires, disconnect the ABS wiring, and remove the equalizers. The previous welds are then cut in order to remove all 4 equalizer hangers and the steel channels between the hangers.
When everything has been removed, the area is grinded in preparation for the new hangers.
As seen below – the hangers are then installed and welded into place, followed by gussets between the stiffeners.
In order to provide reinforcement, steel flat bars are welded underneath the stiffeners, in addition to extra stiffeners on both sides of the hangers. Channels are installed and welded between the hangers, and fabricated angles are installed from the hangers to the crossmembers.
The equalizers are then re-installed and all of the welded areas primed and painted.
